Hi all,

Just want to see if these are average for a 4790K with a Hyper 212 Evo?

1.25 hrs of CSGO @ 1080p

Thanks all!

Eh, I mean, I have an i7-4790K and get between 55 C idle and 85 C under heavy load using a Phanteks PH-TC12LS cooler. The Hyper 212 is a better cooler because it's not painted, so it should do better than mine for cooling.

However, since Intel decided to use shitty TIM between the CPU die and the lid (on 4th gen i7's, at least), a lot of people get a variety of hotter than usual temperature results with these CPUs, depending on the production date.

As long as you're not exceeding the 95-100C threshold, it's fine. Of course, having lower temps does prolong the life of your hardware, so there's always that to consider when dealing with cooling.

Voltage and frequency?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Pretty sure I did.

peak of 80 is safe, but doubling down on the fan on the 212 will help.

Speed or throw a fan on the other side of the cooler?

use the second bracket for double fan. Also a good opportunity for adding an RGB fan.

Sadly I can't see the case so I haven't done any RBG, yet. Once Intel drops their 9xxx CPU's I'm gonna upgrade to a smaller rig & use LED's.

Guess I just didn't hit the silicone valley? Glad to know we're in the same range of temps. I'm gonna give it a good scrub down & maybe add another fan.

Thanks for your input, cheers.

As the said, it could be the TIM between the die and lid, and you actually have a decent CPU. Delidding, while a little risky can really help bring down temps as long as your use proper tools you should have little issues, but if your going for the coffee lake refresh its probably not worth it.

Yeah, I'm just gonna wait for 9xxx. Should be right around the corner... I hope.
