Hello, does this application use gpu ? http://www.algodoo.com/

I have no gpu atm so I can't check.    But If I want a lot of water pixels it gets kinda laggy... Does this depend on that I don't have a gpu ? Would the pc be able to handle a lot more water if I had a gpu ?

Thanks.

Water is very CPU intensive anyway. And i dont think its multithreaded...
Im not sure if a gpu would make much change in that.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Hello,

I've just tried the application on my computer and i would say yes since we're able to set some advance graphic settings like the anisotropic filtering.

Try to change those first and see where it goes. ;)

Hello again,

I've pushed a bit the test on the application and i confirm that this software is much more oriented to GPU usage.

I didn't get more than 20% usage of CPU with more and more square of water.

Anyway even on the installer page, they recommended to update the graphic drivers if you experienced slowness.

Hope this will help you a bit more ;)

You're welcome ;)

He not totaly wrong, some of 3D applications or games are more CPU consuming sometime but he should not give such informations without testing the concerned program.

This program is much more GPU and RAM consuming. I was able to crash him with the following setup :  GTX 1070 / i7 4790k / Corsair Vengeance 2x8GO at 2400Mhz (ram)

Have a nice day !

Hmm seems they've changed it then.
Haven't ran it lately, but water has always been really CPU intensive and not multi-threaded.

So i would also go buy the excelent advice from @MrZeroGood whom actualy tried it.
I should've made it more clear that my info was old info. (Altho they said they wouldnt update Algodoo anymore).
