I am currently picking out parts for my new Ryzen gaming build which is my first ever build. (MSI X470 gaming plus) I am really keen on going with Ryzen compatible RAM than the Intel ones. I couldn't find many of them online but after a bit of digging and reading AMD certified RAMs I could find one that was perfect.

https://www.amazon.in/gp/aw/d/B01D8U2BKA/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

This is a single 8GB RAM stick from hyperx fury 15CL at 2400mhz. However I couldn't find the 16gb kit so is it find if I just buy two of the same individual 8GB sticks and make it 16gb or do I absolutely need to buy a 16gb kit?

Welcome to LTT forums !

It is better to buy a kit .

But be sure to update the bios before using XMP.

Try:https://www.amazon.in/Corsair-Vengeance-3000MHz-PC4-24000-Memory/dp/B0134EW7G8/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1536498956&sr=1-7&keywords=2x8gb+ddr4+ram

Hi, thank you for taking time to help me out. As far as I know, I couldn't really find a model number of that kit so I couldn't cross verify with Corsair's pdf of Ryzen compatible RAM which is why I'm hesitating. Also I read somewhere as well as I saw a video that RAM on Ryzen will stay at JEDEC levels if it's not Ryzen certified or might be even lesser at like 2133mhz. And I think I won't really achieve 3000mhz on my MSI X470 gaming plus Motherboard without overclocking. Sorry I'm really new to PC building, feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Also does this run fine with Ryzen? https://www.amazon.in/G-SKILL-F4-3000C15D-16GVRB-Ripjaws-288-Pin-SDRAM/dp/B015FY8G6U/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1536499916&sr=1-7&keywords=2x8gb+ddr4

Thank you

It's not that big of a deal, I think you're over thinking it. Just check the RAM QVL list for your motherboard and find a kit from there. More than likely though anything 3000 mhz and below will work perfectly fine assuming you have a 2000 series cpu.

It will stay at 2133 no matter what stuck you buy. You have to OC it for it to go higher. I believe msi am4 mobos have a feature called a-xmp or whatever that let's it read the XMP profiles (basically profiles saying what frequency, timings, and voltage the ram is rated for) on the ram and will automatically apply them. So that should be all you have to do. Do note that ryzen can't run them at 3000 mhz due to multipliers and stuff so they would run at 2933 instead.

their is no need to worry .

Memory compatibility is not an issue with ryzen anymore.

Just make sure to update the bios .

and Overclocking ram is not that hard , jut use XMP.

Yeah it's a-xmp. I did check the motherboard's site and this one is listed https://www.amazon.in/HyperX-Black-Internal-Memory-HX424C15FB2/dp/B01D8U2BKA/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&ref_=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top. It runs at 2400mhz. I'm not really happy with 2400mhz, I really do prefer 3000mhz but Amazon literally has just this one RAM. It's 8GB so I have to buy two of them individually. Yeah I know it's a pain but this is literally the only one I could find on Amazon. If you say anything 3000mhz or below will work fine if I use axmp to OC it, then I can just buy the cheapest 2x8gb 3000mhz https://www.amazon.in/G-SKILL-F4-3000C15D-16GVRB-Ripjaws-288-Pin-SDRAM/dp/B015FY8G6U/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1536499916&sr=1-7&keywords=2x8gb+ddr4 And yes I'm gonna be using a Ryzen 2600X

Are you sure it's not an issue and pretty much any RAM will work fine? I really don't wanna return a RAM cause it's not compatible or something lol. Sorry if I'm bothering you about this silly issue.

@ChiefMaverick You're gonna want to buy RAM faster than 2400MHz and depending on how much you can afford to spend on RAM you can reasonably expect to get faster than 3200MHz as well.  And you should be fine buying many of the 3200MHz kits that are currently on the market.  You are worrying a little too much.

Ok as long as any RAM works fine with Ryzen, I'm ok, and yeah I am worrying a lot. Thank you

Amd rates x470 for 2933 mhz. And those sticks are as optimal as possible when it comes to # of ranks and # of sticks. It should work perfectly fine at 2933 mhz.

Np :) worst comes to worst you should still be able to get it working at 2666 but I'm 99% sure it'll work at 2933. Make sure to update your bios first though because some of the updates might help with ram compatibility.

Yeah I know I heard BIOS updates help a lot. That's the first thing I'm gonna do after the build. Thanks again.
