Troubleshooting motherboard socket

Hey guys, i am trying to upgrade my cpu cooler but i have ran into a problem, I changed my socket for the cooler and now i need to remove the socket, i am really not sure how i would go about that or is it better to just buy a new mother board at this point. ?
