Hi everyone.

So this is the last try i'm giving this.

My uncle bought a used Iphone off facebook marketplace, and it looked fine when he picked it up, only to find out when he got home, that the phone wasn't signed out of icloud.

The guy he bought it from refuses to give the password, or even meet up to sign out.

I tried restoring the phone, but now its activation locked.

Is there anyway to get access to the phone, that you guys know of? Everything i can find with a quick google search, is that my uncle is fucked, and that it's pretty much just an expensive brick now.

Thanks in advance!

That sounds to me like you may have been sold a stolen phone :/

or possibly one that person found at a recycling place / trash bin / somewhere

You could try contacting apple customer service though... explain the situation (be honest) and see if they can help you.

I would like to think, that the seller didn't know, and now he's thinking that we are trying to scam him out of his password.

But it's very likely that its a stolen phone.

I might give apple customer service a try, just heard that it's absolute garbage...

In terms of security, they may have to be an absolute garbage.

But when it comes to fulfilling their warranty obligation, they're good.

Cross check the name of the previous owner of the phone in settings with the name of the seller on facebook.

If you can figure out what carrier the phone was connected to, you can contact them with an IMEI number and see if the phone is clear. I know here in the US, the carriers have a database of lost and stolen phones. If its not clear than its probably stolen. If thats the case Id turn it in to the authorities with the person who sold its info.

Besides that you can try public shaming on Facebook. Not sure if Facebook has a report feature for fraud, but they do, id report him.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
