RTX 2080 ?

Hi, Gav here. I was wondering if the 2080 is the hype it’s aut to be. Since I haven’t built a system(yet) I was wondering if I should get the 2080 or get the 1080. Really I’m just trying to get 4K 60 or also 1440 144 amimg for ultra. Sorry for spelling if there is any I’m on an phone

Not any real benchmarks yet. Just seeing leaks so far, it seems like it's only really worth it if you're using ray tracing and dlss, but that's just pure speculation.

Add to it that any performance leaks are done with in-development drivers that may or may not be finished yet...

 

This whole RTX hype train is just so ridiculous. All Nvidea talked about was ray tracing and deep learning / AI. not one quip about raster performance... NOT. ONE.

Considering you can pick up Pascal cards at these prices used:

 

GTX 1060 3GB : $150-200 USD

GTX 1060 6GB : $200-250 USD

GTX 1070         : $250-300 USD

GXT 1070 Ti     : $300-350 USD

GTX 1080         : $350-450 USD

GXT 1080 Ti     : $450-550 USD

it won't do 1440/144 on ultra, estimate right now is 35% better than pascal, still, wait for benchmarks.
