I am trying to add a second GTX 970 to my system and just got the SLI bridge in the mail. I know both cards work on their own and in the PCIE slots they are placed in, but when I add the bridge, Nvidia Control Panel does not think there is an SLI bridge. I have tried rotating the bridge and updating the drivers. I have also run the GPU-Z SLI test on the cards, and the first one is using 8x 3.0, but the second is running 8x 1.1. My guess is that Nvidia is running the second card as a PhysX card and that is why it is using a lower gen PCIE, but I am not sure. I am using an MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition mobo and from what I can tell (the manual is terrible for working with PCI), I have forced all of the PCI ports to be 3.0.

So, I guess my question is: Did I just get a bad SLI bridge and need to get a new one or does anyone know of something I am doing wrong? Also, could power be an issue? I am using a 750w gold PSU.

So are the cards the same or no?

Have you done a clean install of the drivers?

Do you have another device that’s using lanes? Using the correct pci slots? Mobo bios updated?
