I have a Dell s2716dg monitor. I have had it for a couple months and have enjoyed it. The other morning when I woke up, I went to turn on the computer an the monitor would not turn on and just makes a continuous beeping sound every couple seconds. I tried unplugging it and unpluged the display port cable as well, but it just keeps beeping when I plug it back in. Should I take it back to Best Buy to see if they will replace it or is there something I can do to fix it?

@MattKnutson84 Hell yeah take it back IF you paid for the insurance thingy which I believe is $50.

I picked up one up a couple of weeks ago and I made sure that the monitor was manufactured recently -- mine was June 2018 while the others in stock are Nov 2017.

Can you describe the beeping? Or is it more of an electronic hiss

A monitor shouldn't be beeping. a beeping sound is coming from your computer....

It actually is coming from the monitor. I turned off the computer and shut off the PSU, and it still beeps. I can hear it on the monitor if I put me ear up to it. It is a short beeping every 2-3 seconds.

You would think it is under warranty if it's only been a couple months.

It is a short high pitched beep every 2-3 seconds.

Curious.

Pull the power cord and video cable from the computer. See what it does.

What I meant, was pull the power cord from the computer *only* (plus the video cable, from the computer *only*) and with the monitor isolated from the computer, turn it on, and see if it beeps.

I bet it won't.

I have moved the monitor to a different room plugged into nothing but the wall outlet and it still beeps.

Ok, it's weirdly defective then. Never heard a monitor beep before, but I've heard plenty of motherboards do that

I know right?! I'm pretty confused. Well, thanks for the help though.

If possible, before you return it, can you upload a video/audio of the sound, I really want to hear what it's doing

I'll see if I can do that. I took it to Best Buy and they said they couldn't replace it, but they gave me a number for Dell's monitor support and they're going to send me a new one within 2-3 business days with postage to return the defective one. I was VERY impressed with Dell's customer service.
