Windows HOMEGROUP

I have a Win 10Pro PC with a 500gb drive for network storage and I want my sons windows 10Home Laptop to access said drive when I go to map that drive to his Laptop it ask for a password (It's Disabled) I have had no issues since 1979 with mapping drive why am I having it now.

Not sure if this is the problem or not but Homegroup has been removed in the latest version of Windows 10.

Just use normal windows file sharing

  • Right click on folder you want to share go to properties
  • Click Sharing Tab
  • Click Share button
  • Add everyone to the list of users to share
  • Click Share

You could be able to see your computer and the share if you click on Network on your sons computer.
