Is it possible to have my 1440p monitor set up as main and my 4k TV as second monitor in a way, that when I turn off the TV or go to another input on it, the Windows won't use and see at as a second screen or is really my only option to do this to always pull out the HDMI cable going to the PC from the TV?

the tv has no way of sending information back to the computer via hdmi. So the computer has no idea that you turned the tv off , the computer can only detect when you've completely unplugged the cable.

So you basically just have to disable the tv in the display settings every time.

@emosun Well that should not be so much of a problem with the settings in windows key+P. Just one more question then. If I have both connected and choose to only display on the monitor, does the plugged in but not used TV screen use any GPU/CPU/RAM whatever resources or it takes them only if it is made available in the settings?

The tv doesn't pull any resources until you are using it. If it's disabled then no resources go to it.

it should be said even if it was active , the amount of resources it pulls just showing a 2d image are so little that you might not even notice it.
