Hello my name is Caleb and i live in Louisiana. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me make up my mind! I have not built a computer in years (which was just pulling parts from one dell case and swapping them to another dell case, circa early 2000’s). I want a gaming computer for AAA titles, so i just wanted to pick some brains of people smart than me.

I have no computer now so i will need the whole kit and kabuttle. I would like to run dual monitors 140 refresh rate and more than 1080 reliably, i was looking at the ryzen 7 1700x cpu, gtx 1070ti, motherboard with SLI for a second graphics card later. I want the computer fast and no slouch on ram. I planned on doing 16 gig ram for now and upgrading to 32 gig later. My budget is about $1-1200 for the computer, plus the monitor, keyboard and everythin else. I want a beautiful gaming experience. I play console and its decent but not beautiful crisp gameplay.

First, is this the best choice for my wants? If i dont have to spend 1k on just the tower to achieve my goals im not opposed to it. Second is this the best options to optimize the whole system as best as i can.

I am really into the whole rgb light show so that would be really cool to integrate. Im sorry if this is just coming out like mumbo jumbo, ill gladly try to clarify anything.

Yeah and forget about SLI.
Just get a card that does the thing and be done with it.

SLI is just a headache waiting to happen.

and i think 1200$ is not enough for your needs if you still need all peripherals. The PC alone would be a bit above that. If you want to run 1440p at 144Hz.

(Cus 4k wont happen on 144Hz not unless you spend your budget on just a graphics card...)

PS check my build its cost me about 1000+ without peripherals...

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Why forget about SLI? Is it pointless for how i want the computer to perform, or just the budget? I plan on adding things as time goes on

O i am on the right track?

I think so. But besides the budget, im not completly sure the 1070 will run 2x 1440p at 144Hz.

And no 2x 1070 in SLI wont make it much better.

If you get a 2nd card for 800 bucks and it only improves FPS by 15% you dont feel happy about that.

edit- It very much depends on the game, some 'scale' and others completly ignore the whole of SLI.

With the dual monitors, will you be playing games on both screens at once, or will you be using one monitor for games and the other monitor for multitasking, such as having twitch open?

You should consider the Ryzen 7 2700 instead of the 1700x.
A GTX 1070ti should be powerful enough for 1080p 144hz display, and I would not recommend SLI.
16GB of RAM is plenty. 32GB is really not necessary unless you are performing RAM intensive workloads such as heavy video editing or 3D rendering. 16GB is more than enough for a gaming computer, and with prices of RAM really high at the moment, there's really no sense in buying more than you need.

As others have mentioned, to get the system you seem to be hoping for, including the cost of monitors and peripherals, I think you may have to adjust your budget. Here's an example of the sort of system you seem to be interested in. (Doesn't include Keyboard + Mouse since I they can vary in price a lot depending on how fancy you want them)

You could probably swap out a few parts and change things around to bring the cost down, but it will depend on what you want and how much you're willing to pay.

Sounds odd to build such high end PC, current AAA arent that demanding.

quite amazed anyone would first build a overkill pc

The dual momitors will be used for gaming on one and multitask on another.

In that case just get one nice 1080p 144hz monitor for gaming on, and then just a standard 1080p 60hz monitor for the 2nd display. Even a used one if you want to save some cash as there are often lots of people selling 1080p/60hz monitors on craigslist and the like. If you are using the second monitor for web browsing, youtube, music playlist, discord chat, or whatever it may be, it won't benefit from a 144hz refresh rate panel.
