How important is it to be grounded while building a PC, I only ask because i live in a house that is raised off of the ground about 3ft (it's a trailer) full of fluffy carpet, and have a pet. I don't want to accidentally short something out while I'm making this new build, with this being my first ever.

It's quite important as you can potentially break your components before you even put them in the system.

I suggest an anti-static wrist strap. If you don't have one or don't want to buy one, touching the sink will be sufficient. Just make sure you don't create static electricity afterwards.

Cheers,

I never ground myself nor will I. Build all of mine on carpet on a wood table so I never ground myself.

Isnt much need to either. Not building raw components and they aren't that sensitive.

Peope just tend to want to cover basics so if something breaks theu go back and try to blame stuff. Grounding is one of those things.
