New Rig!

Ryoku

So another member suggested that I post my build plan in here so thats what I'm doing!

So Here's what I already Purchased (edited).

Fractal Design Arc Mini R2

Corsair AX760 760W ATX 12V V2.31 80 Plus Platinum

Asus Maximus VI Gene Mobo

Intel i5 4670k CPU

Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H100I CPU Cooler (Planning some OCing In the future)

Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9 1.5V Ram

Samsung 840 Evo Series 250GB

Alright so planning on this being a high end gaming system, I will be doing some overclocking in the future, thinking about going with a EVGA GTX 780 TI GPU and Xonar Phoebus Sound card, anything else I should look at getting? At this point I'd say my budget is 1-1.5k for the remaining parts I need.

PSU is 3564394782674562478569284 times overkill, especially with no GPU. 300w would have been plenty enough.

You would never need 1050w unless you went 3-SLI MAYBE

Ryoku

1) Get a muuuuch smaller PSU. Something like a CX600M if you want to be cheap (no offense ;) ) or a AX760i if you want it to last for years (this is if you get one GPU. If you get multiple then just add 250 watts for each GPU starting at 600 :) )

2) Never liked Intel's SSDs so I would go with something like a 250 GB EVO drive from Samsung.

3) Will you not need some more storage? If so then get a 1 or 2 TB Seagate Barracuda or something similar like a Black or Blue drive from Western Digital :)

4) What is your actual budget? Then we can recommend the rest of the stuff :)

You can't plug enough gpu, other adapters, hdd, etc. into that motherboard to use a 1050W psu. Even if you oc'd everything by 100%.

Ok your just getting back into building but I feel the need to help a bit

ok we are going to have to rip this apart a little yeah hes right but the biggest issue is no gpu. Please man atleast put a 650ti in there with a 430watt - 550watt psu also get a cheaper motherboard save some cash.

My reccomendations are

an asus deluxe z87 mobo

nvidia 660 ti

corsair cx500

still have oc room and upgradability

I don't really have a budget.

Anyways I sent a msg in and hopefully they can change the PSU and SSD. Heres what I went with.

http://products.ncix.com/detail/samsung-840-evo-series-mz-7te250bw-250gb-2-5in-sata-iii-internal-ssd-single-unit-version-42-87761-1419.htm

I'll go with a lil on the bigger side for more room for upgrading later.  Now GPU and Audio suggestions, I'll pay 1k for a video card I really don't care (Read a review on EVGA GTX 780 TI Classified lol kinda want it) , and for audio I just want to get the most out of my Headset http://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/shop/hah/headphones-and-headsets/gaming/mmx-300.html.  I was thinking a Xonar Phoebus but I dunno?

Storage I have a 4TB & 2x 1.5tb External HDDs, I'll likely also pick up a 500gb-1tb samsung micro ssd for the mPCIe Combo II thinger thats on the mobo I have chosen in the future.

The psu is still overkill. A 600W unit would be sufficient for your build. Something around 650W would be appropriate.

You could probably run the system off of a 120w psu.

An AX760i is more than sufficient though you can take a look at Seasonic's Platinum-760XP2 which is cheaper than the AX760i. As for the 780 Ti Classified, get the K|NGP|N edition once it is released. :]

As for audio, the Xonar Essence STX would be a good choice and so is the Phoebus, but the Phoebus' main strength is more for 7.1 surround setups.

Main reason I suggested the Phoebus over the Essence STX was ACM the Phoebus comes with, I like the idea of having a control unit to plug my Headset into (which doesn't have any volume control of its own).  Also I can still hook a Theater system up at the same time and not have to worry about switching around cables.

Ah, I see. Here's suggestion based off my opinion.

Replace the H100i with a high-end air cooler such as the NH-D14, PH-TC14PE, Dark Rock Pro 2, SIlver Arrow SB-E Extreme as air coolers are not as prone to failure.

A rough budget would help before people start throwing quad 780 Ti's and 1TB ssd's your way.

The mobo can't fit 4 videos cards, as for storage I have plenty of external hdds (7tb worth) which I said earlier in the post, and I planned on putting a micro samsung ssd in it anyways when they become available.

At this point I'm probably just going to go with a EVGA 780 GTX TI Classified (maybe wait for the Kingpin depending on price and time) and a Xonar Phoebus Sound Card.

I believe the MMX 300 comes with its own USB sound card. I'm curious why you think it or the Gene's own audio sub-system are inadequet?

I know the gene's are good, but the main thing is I want the audio control module that the Phoebus comes with, the module has 2 mics build in it so it can listen to the ambient sound in the room and filter it out.  The MMX300 does come with a usb adaptor/card thing but its garbo from what I've heard, also if I'm not mistaken if you use the USB thing bypasses / doesn't use your soundcard/built in audio?

Since you are not using the sound sub-system on the Gene, have you thought about using a Gryphon Z87 instead? Or did you want the black & red of a ROG board?

Yea, I went with the Gene for some of the other options that come with that board.
