M.2 Memory Chip Mod

Go to solution Solved by RacA,

It's a little different case but Strange Parts (youtuber) had soldered bigger flash chip to his iphone mobo and managed to make it work. He first had to reprogram the chip in a device that I can't imagine getting anywhere outside of China.

Hey guys.

A very quick question.

Can you solder an additional memory module on any SSD?

Take for example the image below. There is a portion where a memory module can be soldered on.

This is intended for educational purposes only. I understand that there will probably be compatibility issues with what modules to use and possibly a software to do some reprogramming.

But if this works, it would mean that I can expand any SSDs capacity by recycling memory modules off of a none working SSDs.

Please do tell me your thoughts on the matter.

any limitations on this will come from the controller probably. idk how specific each ssd controller is made

I don't know much about SSD controllers either. But could they, somehow, be reprogrammed to remove limitations?

Will have to look more into it.
