computer won't turn off

does anybody know why this happens, in Windows when I shutdown my it closes all my programs and my monitors stop receiving input but my computer lights and fans stay on, like it hasn't actually turned off

 

does anybody know what this is and how to fix it?

I had this issue happen and ended up having to replace the motherboard. A number of places will tell you the same thing.

So, what you're saying is that your computer's lights stay on after you shut it down and that all programs close?

And the fans keep spinning but the displays stop receiving input, yes

will anything bad happen if I do t replace the mobo, just shutdown the hold the power button

Does it instantly stop receiving input or does it stop getting input after the windows "shut down animation" was shown?

 

Also, do the fans just keep spinning "forever" or only for a few seconds?

after shutdown animation and I don't know about forever because the longest I waited it about 6 hours after

and do you happen to have access to a different power supply for testing purposes?

i'm not really fancying that power supply..

The monitors not displaying anything after shutdown is normal, as far as I know anyway. Don't know about the fans, though; 6 hours doesn't sound like they just take longer to turn off...

Why don't you check the windows event log to see if it is getting hung up on anything during shutdown? Or if it shuts down and for some reason the hardware remains on

Right click on the start button and press event viewer.

Try holding the power button when this happens, then when the whole system is off, switch the power supply off for a few seconds, then right back on. I had a problem similar to this, and that's what I did.

I do but every time I shutdown it happens?
