I wouldn't recommend putting an fx 8 core on an matx mobo if you can help it.

yeah well, fullsize ATX is better in almost every case but i dont think the cpu will die or anything when put in a cheaper matx board, aye?

Linus Tech Tips uploaded a video comparing an older I5-3570k to an FX-8350. Watch the video before you leave anymore comments!

Link the video when you say things like this. Also, I doubt they tested anything regarding content creation and 3d programs.

yeah... I really love it

In that case stick with the xeon.

Ok, thanks. And what about the other parts, are they ok?

I'd personally get lower profile ram in case you ever want a quieter cpu cooler but it might not matter since your'e not oc'ing.

I'd take a look at the ssdnow v300 120GB--it's probably cheaper than the 840 evo.

I just noticed--no psu?

Check out the AMDs small 2% gain in multithreaded performance and the Intel's 53% gain in single threaded performance among other info here: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/446/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4670K.html

Oh, actually the v300 is 15 euros cheaper, thanks! but are there any noticeable differences in the read speeds?

About the psu, I forgot to list it, it's a XFX pro 550w

You "doubt" that they tested 3D modeling? How would you know? You did not even watch it, so watch parts 1, 2 and 3 before commenting again.

These are stock and synthetic benchmarks. If you want to compare 3d modeling performance, use 3d modeling benchmarks.

The differences are not really noticeable. I've worked with several of both ssds.

You could probably get a smaller psu. A decent 500w would be plenty.

I've seen most of Linus's videos including this one. I know they didn't.

That website is bs. Check a well done review.

Anandtech shows how the FX 8350 dominates on 3D rendering.

This is a sysmark benchmark, not 3d modeling.

Did he not say that he would be using it for gaming also? I do not want to fight. The FX-8350 does have 8 "cores", but AMD's 8 "cores" are equivalent to a quad core Intel with 8 threads. The FX-8350 has 8 threads. Not 8 "cores". You are right about the FX-8350 performing very well in some tasks. I am not trying to say that the I5-4670 is always better than the FX-8350. I am only saying that when the AMD does win by a small amount, the Intel is mostly wining by a large amount. In MOST tasks, the Intel is the clear winner. Since he is also using it for gaming, I believe that the Intel would be the better choice.

For gaming, there isn't much of a difference so you might as well focus where there are differences.

The cpus aren't equivalent. They excel at different things.

In the OP's case, where the Fx 8 core excels makes a bigger difference than where Intel excels.
