Hi guys I've recently upgraded my processor from an fx-4170 to an 8350 and feel like I might upgrade my GPU aswell probably to an r9 270x or something. Would this be a good time to do it? Or should I wait to see what new GPU's are released?

My current GPU is the gtx 560ti, thanks guys :)

Waiting is probably a 100x better than buying what is currently out here today.

Depends on you and on the games you are playing.

If you play not so graphics intense titels or if you ain´t got no problem with playing with less details, then I´d wait for Maxwell. I highly doubt we will see Maxwell in Q1 since it is just announced for Q1 2014, but I guess around April, May we´ll see what´s coming up with it.

I had last year pretty much all of the highend graphics cards, and a R9 290X or a GTX 780 Ti rocks! Currently I am using in my gaming rig a watercooled GTX780 Ti with beastly OC and I couldn´t be happier with it.

If you want to go for Maxwell wait for the 20nm shrink.

But if you decide to buy i.e. a R9 290 with aftermarket cooler you will not regret it as well. 2014 is going to be a fantastic year for computer gamers. There are really good games in the make right now.

The R9 270(X) is a pretty good card even though it´s just a rebrand. I´d go for at least a R9 280X or a GTX770. Sure you´ll see a difference between a GTX560 and a R9 270 but for me the performance gain would be too small for the money.

You do not need to buy a X version of the 270 because the one without X is pretty much as fast as the X version.

If I´d be just a casual gamer and not a hardware enthusiast I´d probably buy something to make sure, I´ll be fine for at least 2 years. Look for something a bit more expensive and you will be fine for a longer time (future proof doesn´t exist ;) ).
