So i've been having about 50% ich of my ram being used by nothing for around 2 months now and i can't seem to fix it, i have aleady disabled superfetch an enabled it multiple times, swapped the memory sticks but i can't fix the problem, also i can't update windows, every time it finishes updating a message pops up saying that it couldn't complete the updates. i think it has something to do with the boot drive but idk.

my specs are:

i5 6500

g1 sniper b7

2x8 hyper x fury ddr4 2133

gtx 1070 zotac amp extreme

corsair  cx600

You turn your PC off...

...and then on again! Either that or uninstall goldfish.exe

(Yes that should solve the problem but I shall actually get to solving it...)

OK so is this as soon as you restart or is this when your PC has been running for a while?

What settings are you using for your page file? make sure it is on Auto.

That being said windows will try to keep a certain amount of information in ram. So having 30-50% used out of 16gb isn't unheard of and just means you can access those programs faster. It should clear things out as you start needing more ram. I also mentioned the page file, because if you have it manually set to low or disabled then windows cannot move lower priority things out of memory and also cannot optimized your memory effectively.

If youre having issues with update go to the troubleshooting page in control panel and you should be able to get to a list of troubleshooters... Run the one for update. It may fix that issue for you

When the problem happens, can you post a screenshot of Task Manager -> Performance tab -> Memory page?

sorry for not responding but here it is

I also should've asked for the "Processes" tab as well, but otherwise this likely means some app is leaking memory.

Also the "Details" tab, but sorted by descending memory usage (click on the "Memory" header thing and it should sort it)
