Hey guys! I'm complete newb to the pc gaming world, so... id like to ask for help. Im trying to build a budget system around of my already owned parts- gigabyte ga-m68mt-s2p mobo, phenom x4 965 black edition cpu, 350w psu(need upgrade), 4 gigs of dual channel 1333mhz ram(really looking for the best possible price for new 2x4gb kit as an upgrade) and 2 hdd(hitachi 500gb and seagate barracuda 250gb). System did rock gtx 650oc gpu but its dead. Either way, the only componets I'll keep are the cpu, hdds and mobo.
Games I aim to play - World of Warcraft, CS:GO and League of Legends.

Current system rocks gt 440 but the computer randomly freezes and requires hard reset and Im trying to figure out what is the problem.
(and Im from europe if that helps in any way for pricing)

Thanks!

I doubt that CPU will run any games well, more so CS GO. What exactly is your budget?

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

it'll be fine

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-945-vs-Intel-Core2-Quad-Q6600-vs-AMD-Athlon-5350-APU/7vs1038vs2195

outperforms my 5350 and q6600 and ive used both of those with no problems in 1080p with a 750ti for a wide variety of games ranging from CSGO to GTA V

CSGO will run flawlessly on it if the athlon + 750ti could do medium settings in 1080p to achieve over 70-80fps

heres some regular old 1333mhz ddr3, your board doesnt support 1600 without an OC or that would be a few dollars cheaper

https://www.ebay.com/itm/G-Skill-PC3-10666-8GB-2x4GB-DIMM-1333-MHz-DDR3-SDRAM-Memory-F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL/183379528159?epid=133674026&hash=item2ab24589df:g:V74AAOSwuoNbczrY

heres a gt 1030, wont need to upgrade your psu then

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASL-NVIDIA-GT1030-Gaming-Graphics-Card-2GB-GDDR5-DVI-384-CUDR-Core-7008MHz/222809845912?hash=item33e0807098:g:1TQAAOSwCtJaaVe3

though if you do upgrade your psu, your phenom would pair well with pretty much any midrange gpu from the 650 up

What's your budget? What you want is a new GPU, DDR3 RAM, and PSU?

Your CPU is pretty old, almost 10 years old, and is beaten by even budget modern CPUs. The integrated graphics in the Ryzen 2200G will most likely be a lot better than the GT 440 as well.
Since you're planning on buying memory anyway, I'd say go for a full platform (mobo + CPU + RAM) upgrade instead.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($98.89 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($69.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Team - T-Force Delta RGB 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($90.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair - CX (2017) 450W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($23.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $283.83

If you have the budget I'd recommend throwing in an 250GB/500GB SSD as well for the OS.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

and as far as a case goes, i mean... anything works

its an matx board and presumably an atx power supply so whatever you personally like

https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007583&IsNodeId=1&Description=matx case&name=Computer Cases&Order=PRICE&Pagesize=36&isdeptsrh=1

any will do fine

i suggest this rosewill fbm x1 though, because it has a little window and looks nice or a few dollars more

Budget range seems reasonable in a long run, thanks for the recommendations! :)

I really need new psu because its as old as the whole system...

I was thinking about getting 450w psu, new pair of ddr3 memory(just trying to find compatible options) and either gtx 650, 750 or 750ti.

  • 1 month later...

Uhm, been some time... and in the end this is what ended up with bigger budget, so I want to hear your feedback.

Could've waited for prices to come down more and picked up either 1060 3gb version or 1060 6gb version( they're now like 250-300 for 3gb and around 300 to 400 for 6gb version), aswell as different psu, since wattage isnt even close to 500 and I wasnt able to find dual channel ram at the time I bought these components(its single stick). I whish the cpu didnt ran out of stock when I was about to buy it and when it was back in stock it costed like 50eur more than previously :D But I am happy about the fact I was able to put ssd and hdd in this build. Added 2 more fans for extra cooling since the case is small form factor.

  • MOBO- ASRock H310M-G/M.2 (69.51 €)
  • CPU- Intel® Core™ i3-8100 3.60 GHz 6M LGA1151 BX80684I38100 (185.93 €)
  • GPU- Zotac GeForce GTX1050 Ti OC 4GB GDDR5 PCIE ZT-P10510B-10L (173.44 €)
  • PSU- Cooler Master Elite V3 500W MPW-5001-ACABN1-EU (37.16 €)
  • Case- Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1 Black (38.77 €)
  • SSD- SanDisk Plus SSD 240GB SATA III SDSSDA-240G-G26 (48.35 €)
  • HDD- Seagate BarraCuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA III 64MB ST1000DM010 (39.99 €)
  • RAM- Team Group T-Force Vulcan Red 8GB 2400MHz CL16 DDR4 TLRED48G2400HC1601 (67.48 €)
  • Extra fans- Arctic F12 Case Fan 120mm AFACO-120P2-GBA01 (10.36 €)

Total cost: 680.98 €

Thanks!

Just purchase an old prebuilt with a 3rd or 4th gen i7 in it. They go around fr about $200-220 here in the US. I'd recommend to go with the Acer prebuilts.

If u want better asthetics, then transfer that Mobo ND other parts in a new case. You can use ur existing ram to upgrade.

Also, grab a gtx 1060 or rx580 if u wanna go new. Or else look fr something like gtx 780ti/970/980/980ti or r9 fury/fury x.

Also, look fr a decent psu like g2/g3 series from evga or txm series from Corsair or focus plus series frm seasonic or leadex series from super flower...
