Titan xp v 2080

IrishDunner

Ive seen an add for new unused titan xp for 800 in the Irish equivalent of Craigslist, the ti currently sells for 900 new, how would the titan xp stand up against the 2080 or 2080ti

The 2080 is apparently only 8% faster than a 1080ti, so a Titan XP is likely around the same.

The 2080ti on the other hand we have no news about, no rumours or otherwise.

Bassicaly from what iv seen, the new GPU's shouldnt interest any1 using a 1080ti atm, not untill we get word about a 2080ti, the 2080 is rather lackluster judging by the info we have currently.

Also it isn't known yet if raytracing is more a gimmick or actually a nice feature...

Also Also, if even the RTX series is supposed to be a replacement for the GTX.

Maybe you can but the GTX series as well next to the RTX series if you don't use Raytracing.

If they announce a GTX1180 as well...

So would you go for the titan xp over the new cards?

If i don't need one right now, I would wait.

his maximum price would also have to drop on his T XP afterwards.

According to the rumours the line up will be:

RTX for 2070 and higher, GTX for 2060 and lower

But it are just rumours...

so the ray tracing chips are then just a add-on on the board.?

Same graphics chip ( probably a bit higher clock and more cores)

Question at this point how well Pascal will age...Maxwell and Pascal were similar in terms of architecture and Maxwell had a good run and 980ti still perform well in newer titles...Kepler (780/780ti) aged poorly because it was the last of the ''old stuff''...now it seem like pascal is also the last gen of the old stuff...so i think it will age poorly and in a couple years we'll be looking back at it and the new cards will probably perform a lot better in upcoming games.

No, there is no chip added to the board it's all baked in the graphics core which is brand new, it's a completely new GPU core architecture.
