Cpu and psu

Ok i figured out the  SSD problem, now...in the back of  my power supply  there is nothing plugged into the cpu and pci slots. There are several cables with my PSU, what do i plug into the back of my power supply, and then my motherboard?

What PSU is this?

Corsair 650cm. I just checked my cables. None of them explicitly say CPU they all say type 4.

And like i said nothing is plugged into the back of the psu in that slot

Well I can see one of your 4-pin CPU cables plugged into the top left of the motherboard but I can't see the second. I can see your 24-pin on the right side plugged in. I can't tell if your SSD is plugged in and if your power switch cables that come from the top of the buttons on your case and connect down into your motherboard into some called like power switch. Only other thing would be the external plug that goes from the wall socket to your PSU/

My main concern is there is nothing plugged into the BACK of my power supply to even plug into the motherboard

The 4 (or 8-pin) CPU power connector only fits in two of the modular connections on the power supply side.

You can use any of the 8-pin ports labelled under  "6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU".

 

The other connections are 6-pin ports, labelled under "Peripherals & SATA" ... which only work with SATA power cables, and 4-pin molex, etc.

I just took out my power supply. So nothing is plugged in back there. I have several cables, none of them explicitly say CPU. can someone show me what cable is supposed to be plugged into the back of this power supply, and once i do, does anything need to be plugged into the motherboard.  I am slowly losing faith i can do this.

The picture that you posted of your motherboard with the cable going to the top-left corner.

That goes to ANY of the 8-pin ports on the power supply under the "6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU" section.

Have a look at the picture I uploaded in my previous post.

Ok i just plugged these in now there is a pcie that  looks too short to plug into  anything.  Is this correct?

Ok i unplugged it and will put in back there. So what goes in its place?

Oh boy...

 

The 8-pin does connect to the power supply end, which you have is correct.

The daisy-chained 6+2-pin AND 6-pin DOES NOT go to the power supply ports -- it connects to your VIDEO CARD.

 

You also have a CX 650M and NOT and CS 650M.

Two different models.

The CPU power cable...

One side is a SOLID 8-pin -- that goes to the solid 8-pin socket on the power supply, under "6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU".

One side is a 4+4 pin connection -- that goes to the motherboard socket on the top-left corner.

There is a locking tab, so it only goes in one way...you can't properly connect it up-side down.

This cable only has one end. The other is stuffed inside the case. Where  do i plug it in?

Cpu power is the name of the now blank mobo spot

That is the 4+4 CPU power connection.

Ok if i plug that back in, what goes into the back of the power supply?  I dont see anywhere else on the mobo something  can plug into?  That still leaves the cpu and pcie slots blank. And thank you for your help. This is enraging

I tried to power everything on and nothing happened.  So i know something isnt plugged in. And did i take my psu out for nothing?

I will plug the cpu cable back into the mobo. That still leaves the back of my psu empty other than sata

CPU 4+4 pin goes to the motherboard <<>>  8-pin from the other end goes to the power supply socket.

 

24-pin goes to the motherboard <<>> other side is directly connect to the power supply, so nothing to do there.

 

IF you have a video card, use any of the necessary 6-pin or 6+2-pins <<>> 8-pin from the other end goes to the power supply socket.

 

Connect SATA power cable to your SSD  <<>> you can either use the SATA power cable that is completely attached to the power supply, or use a modular one.

Connect the SATA data  cable to your SSD  <<>> Connect the other end to the SATA data ports on your motherboard.

 

Connect the case power button, reset button, LED indactor wires to the bottom right corner of your motherboard.

REFER to your MOTHERBOARD and/or COMPUTER CASE user manuals on how those should be connected -- will vary between motherboards (or case).

 

Make sure the CPU heatsink is installed, and the cooling fan cable is connected to a 4-pin CPU_Fan header

 

Flip the switch on the back of the PSU to the "ON" position.

Press the power button to turn on the PC...

Might has been a little easier if you started with a non-modular power supply for a first-time ever PC build.

Eliminates some of the first-time confusions.
