GTX 970 SLI

Hello guys. I was wondering if Doing a 970 sli in 2018 will be worth it or not. My current setup is:

MSI B150 Gaming M3

GTX 970

Cooler Master 750 Watt

Core I5 6500

2 SSDs and 2TB HDD

My teemps are really really good. 

Now, I have budget of a 1060, however, with the same budget I can get an SLI supported Motherboard and another GTX 970. Will that be worth it? (IK 1070 will be best but I can't really afford it right now)

Please tell me if the 970 SLI will be worth it. Thanks. 

I'll be gaming Triple AAA titles and Occasional League and CS. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

With the new cards coming out and SLI support I would say no

A GTX 970 is on par with the GTX 1060 3GB in performance. It is still extremely good for playing games and will definitely suit your needs. GTX 970 sli would be a terrible idea (because sli support in games is hit or miss). 

 

Just suck it up and hold on to your wallet. Instead of moving from generation to generation, it is better to completely skip one if you want to see a real performance difference.

SO heres a personal information. Im leaving my country and going to vancouver, Canada soon. Before I leave I want to leave my younger brother a killer setup. I dont have much time. I cant afford a 1070 right now. What do you think will be the best idea for now?

SLI 970 will, at best, perform on par with a 980Ti, which is slower than a 1070. That said, if you can get a 1070, go for that instead.

Well John I don't want to pry but I don't know the GPU situation in your country so it is hard to make an assessment.

 

But in Vancouver (since I am from there), if you sold your GTX 970 and had enough money for a GTX 1060, you could actually quite comfortably buy a GTX 1070 TI or even a GTX 1080 on the used market. If the situation is the same in your country, then I would proceed to do that.

I use a pair of older cards to certain games. Mainly battle field's. They give me better frames and frame times that a 1080. So it was an easy choice for me. 

Just depends on the title. I have to sli anyway as single cards just cant perform like I want.
