I have a Cisco MDS 9124 multi-layer fabric switch that I am trying to configure. However, in order to do so without knowing much about configuring through the command line I need to find  Cisco Device Manager. In order to view it on Cisco's website I need to have an open account with them. I am just a student who received the SAN equipment and switch from my school, and do not have an account. If anyone could give me some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

And this, kids, is why I don't support Cisco equipment. Period. Mind you, HP and Dell do the same thing with a lot of their enterprise servers too. I get the concept of paying a subscription for updates to BIOS firmware or other microcode, but it grinds my gears that they expect people to pay even to just download the original software / firmware that shipped with the equipment.

My recommendation? Find someone with an active account who's willing to go under the radar to get you updates and Cisco Device Manager, or throwaway your Cisco hardware and acquire hardware from a vendor who actually cares about providing a decent user experience, such as Ubiquiti. (I'm well aware that Cisco is still an industry standard when it comes to enterprise networking, but this really needs to change.)
