1080 acts wierd.

so got a asus geforce gtx 1080 strix oc i love this card and it been holding out fine in anything i throw at it...

latly tho i noticed a trand of it reaching 100% use and 80c on games...it never did....

it used to work perfectly fine on VR but now i reach 100% use and framy game....

i donnu what does it i did update its driver not too long ago but i dont remember if it started after it or if its somthing new.

i put a bridge on it not too long ago pushing it abit up so it wont be in a angle down can it be lifting it too high so it wont work correctly?

is that even a thing? i donu anymore and again for a card that handles everything until now im hellla confused.

 

my system is 

cpu: TR 1920x 12 core

gpu asus strix 1080o

ram is 16gb 2400hz crosair. (waiting on 32gb 3200 to arrive)

psu: crosair rm750x

and mobo is a asus x399 prime-A

100% use is normal, because it means that your gpu is actually being used to its full potential, anything below 95% utilization means that you have a bottleneck.

Also 80c for a 1080 seems a bit high but normal, especially because of the quiet operation optimized asus fan curve.

Also remove the bridge, if the card already was bent, then you putting the bridge means that the thermal paste doesnt make contact to the gpu core anymore, as it bends the other way now, just let it be a bit bent.

80c is fine, 100% when under load makes sense

ill say it agiain i gess i wasennt clear.

games that used to run just fine now runn bad annd laggy vr became bad to play on games i used to play no problem before....

Well 100% use is normal. If its to hot, turn up the fans for the card and case. Quite simple.

But i dont get why its running worse now.....it used to run allot smoother..  now my fps are halfed

Idk, showing what the rest of the system is doing would tell you normally

Remove the same bridge. The Asus card is designed the be a bit saggy, if you overbend it the paste doesn't make contact anymore.

all seems to work perfect now and im down allmost 10c!

should i switch my thermal paste on the card anwyays?...

i mean i got this card for a long time now. will it get the tempreture even lower?

If you had the bridge for over a week then the thermal paste is a bit ruined now. Changing the paste should drop another 10c.
