Thinking Of Upgrading For VR

I've been playing a lot of VR recently, Beat Saber in specific, and I'm fairly confident my PC is a little under powered to be streaming it. I'm assuming my limiting factor is the 1060 3gb and not my Ryzen 5 2600x as when I do stream it, I get a bit of lag and the game is much less smooth. With the new Nvidia GPUs coming out soon I'm thinking maybe I'll upgrade my GPU. I would just like to confirm that my bottleneck is probably the GPU. I can provide more info if needed such as cpu usage and gpu usage and what not if that will help. I also switched to CPU encoding from GPU encoding for streaming and it seems about the same performance.

the 3gb is the problem I think, you might be running out of VRAM

What are you using to stream?

With that CPU you should be using the CPU for encoding in OBS

nvm i read the last bit

I'm using x264 1920x1080 resolution with a 4000 bitrate.

I do local recording with NVENC on 1080ti and even that is not enough for 1080p 30FPS when playing in VR so I have to use 720p60FPS which causes FPS drops only from time to time in BeatSaber.

I definitely cant use x264 on CPU so I dont know if I can help you with that.

But I doubt your CPU is really an issue there, you may only need to tweak the settings a bit better.

I feel like the game running at 180 fps on my actual pc is a problem and I'm trying to figure out how to cap it right now. Other than that it runs fine it just barely recognizes hits sometimes with the occasional stutter

My workaround is a separated GTX 1050 which I use just for the NVENC in OBS which causes no FPS loss since all of the encoding is offloaded to that card.

The disadvantage is that you need high bitrates for NVENC to look good so its nearly not as nice as CPU encoding for streaming

And yes.

Looks like the game is rendered twice.

In VR and on monitor... Especialy if you use the camera mod

I finally figured out how to cap fps and the usage dropped from 90 to ~35 so hopefully this will help me.
