Hey Guys

I have a MAXIMUS VIII RANGER running a i7 7700k   Link to Product :

https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Core-Desktop-Processor-i7-7700K/dp/B01MXSI216/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1533994208&sr=1-2&keywords=i7+7700k

in my current system and I am looking to put in a new SSD or M.2 SSD into my system but don´t know If my Motherboad supports that.

I know I have an M.2 slot that supports 1 x M.2 Sockel 3, , with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode)*1    that is what it says on the Asus Homepage Spec page

The SSD I am looking for would be something like a Samsung 960 EVO like this one   https://www.samsung.com/de/memory-storage/960-evo-nvme-m-2-ssd/MZ-V6E500BW/  or similar to it or Crucial MX500 CT500MX500SSD1(Z) 500 GB   like this one https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-500GB-NAND-Internal/dp/B0784SLQM6

I read that the 960 evo is much faster but I am not a content creator. I use my rig for gaming and watching movies - Would that 960 EVO or another SSD work with my Maximus 8 Ranger  ?

One futher question that I have is about this drive  https://www.amazon.com/XPG-SX8200-480GB-Gen3x4-ASX8200NP-480GT-C/dp/B07BLMP9ZT?tag=ecatapultifr-20&ascsubtag=DEFAULT94111533993903860-thaus:en_US_18_Review_3891&SubscriptionId=AKIAITCRJ2RHQCM3KCIA&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953

It says " Form Factor M.2 2280 D5"  and I have never heard of  the classification  "D5" could anyone clarify that for me please ?

I have no idea if I could look this up somewere else on the spec sheet from asus but I couldn´t find anything referring to D5
