good wired only router

hi all, 

 

i am currently own a Asus rt-ac5300, i want to place it in the living room (set it as a wireless AP) and get a wired router for it to connect to my modem (i am subscribed to a 1GBps fiber plan) but i cant seem to find a good wired router for my home. (i live in Singapore, so my internet speed is about 600 upload and 500 downloads)

 

I came to a few good ones

How much do you want your router to do? Both of those will work fine. Also look at the edge router lite.

In my experience, so long as the unit is mounted so that heat can escape vertically (so wall mount for a unit with vents on the back), it can be in some pretty awful conditions before issues arise. I had my old Asus RT-N16 router in a 35C+ airing closet for more than three years and it never had to reboot for anything except DD-WRT updates. 

 

Both of the routers you posted originally seem like good choices. I'd personally prefer the Mikrotik one of those two, since I've had good experiences with them in the past, though you need to be aware that Microtik firmware has had some high-severity security issues in the past. Not an issue if you keep it updated.

true enough, in Singapore the room temp can get very warm, not to mention leaving it in the cabinet
