I built this computer about 7 months ago, and added the graphics card into it about 2 months ago.

Bare in mind these are current prices, I paid about $1650 before tax.

I am offering the whole thing for $1250, or $950 without monitors, or $950 without the graphics card.

Someone just made me an offer for $700 without the monitors, I told him to stop playing games. I said I would do $850. HE THEN SHOWS ME THIS OPEN BOX SALE PC FOR $920 FROM BESTBUY

I started to LOL, and told him not only is my CPU faster, the GPU is better too - AND not to mention my rig is "like new" too - just because it's open box doesn't mean it's used.

I went down again to $800, and told him I would throw in the MSI gaming keyboard and mouse, and some $50 speakers - AND deliver it.

He then says "cmon! it's for an 11y/o kid!! I will do $750."  --- I said I would think about it and get back to him.

So my dilemma is - I want to either A) Sell this rig and build a new one, or B) Upgrade this rig.

I want a custom water cooled loop, but my GPU doesn't have a compatible full-covered water block, just a generic one that covers the graphics processor - not the VRM or VRAM. The solution to this is of course buy a compatible GPU which would mean a 1070 or 1080 - OR get the NZXT Kraken G12 GPU - AIO mount, along with an AIO.

I would like a GTX 1080ti - that alone will cost me about $800-$900. Building the new rig around it with the loop can easily cost an additional $1500 - so if I sold my current rig, it would get me the 1080ti (almost) and I would have to pay out of pocket $1500.

If I didn't sell the rig, and I did get the Kraken G12, AIO for GPU - I would also upgrade with 8gb more RAM, a V-NAND SSD, The case, more fans and of course a LED strip!!

^^ That upgrade would run about $600 - I would keep my GTX 1060 6gb - which in my opinion works absolutely fine for what I need (playing Fortnite) and it would be such a better experience with the SSD, and look sexier with everything else. And I would eventually get some 144hz monitors.

SO - THE FINAL DILEMMA - I am in a position to do either option.

Do I want to build a new rig right now???

With the new line of nVidia 1180 or 2080 cards right around the corner?

Is Intel releasing a new gen of CPU's within the next 6 months where my 17-8700k upgrade would quickly become obsolete?

Should I just upgrade my current rig for $600, be happy with it, and wait it out until the new GPU's come out, or until Black Friday or something?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

(Bare in mind they would be buying just the box with everything in it - not the keyboard, mouse, external HDD, etc.)

You have a pretty good computer now. I don't think $750 is enough for what it is and I really think you should wait a few months to see if we actually get Intel 9th Gen and 11 series GPUs.   I also think custom water cooling is cool, however I stopped doing it because it took way too much time and money and for that same money I could have had a better computer than if I overclocked on water.  My advice is to get the case you really want and slowly upgrade as things come out, and also keep the system as modular as possible so you can keep upgrading going forward.
