What should I do ?

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Try it a few more times, if he doesn't reply, I'd say the best bet would be to give it to the police or something. Let them know that you have tried to contact the guy for months and if they could do anything with it. If not, they might send you away with the phone. But just in-case the fella turns around and says it's been stolen. Covers your ass.

So, a while back, we found a phone. (a galaxy S2)
there were some notifications on it, but also a password.
I managed to pull an email out of it. and I emailed the presumed owner of the phone. (well, the email associated with the phone anyway.)

he answered once, asking to know where he could get his phone back, and I told him we could meet up somewhere.

but then I never got an answer.

its been over 4 months at this point.
iv sent 2 other emails with no response.

what should I do ?
Is keeping stealing ?
who would I even give it to ?

No emergency contacts listed on the phone? You generally don't need a password to access them.

Keep sending emails until the guy replies, if not for a solid month, you know he's not interested or got a new phone I guess.

there's no sim card
no info besides the email notification
and no info from him for a few months.

I would give that phone back to the police and let them solve the problem. Laws in my country says that it will belong to me if the owner doesnt come back for it after half a year, counted from the day the police station receives it.

Seeing as it's an s2 I am surprised the thing is functional. I'd imagine they aren't coming for it.

I have an S3 that's still functional, but RAM is a real limitation.

If it works and they didn't reply, I'd just wipe it and keep it.
