Wrong H500 lol Coolermaster H500 is the one with actual airflow , or the RL06 Pro, but for some reason they're rather pricey on the CA part picker

if you end up with a 4k display, you're better off with a mid ranged GPU running games at 1080p until something faster than a 1080ti comes out to actually game at 4k high+ settings

Nvidia also announces new GPUs on the 20th most likely, so either the 1080ti will get a price drop, or it will be replaced by the 1180 at around it's MSRP

You picked a bad time to build a PC basically lol

I'd go for like a cheap RX 570 plus the monitor upgrade now, then upgrade to the like 1180/ti in the future to make full use of the 1440p 144hz display for AAA games at high+ anyways

Well I have a 1050ti in the Pc i got and a 750ti laying around somewhere. I guess I wont buy the 1080 for now which drops my pc build to 900~$.

It wont say in pc part picker. But I'm Trusting you. Well it says

  • 1 additional external 5.25" drive bay is needed.
  • LG - GH24NSC0B DVD/CD Writer and NZXT - H500 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case are not compatible.

To get the H500 it's easily worth it, very hard to beat 2 200mm fans with a mesh front for airflow/cooling

I do agree that 144hz is a lot smoother though. But for me resolution and a 21:9 monitor provides a bigger visual impact, especially if you mainly play single player games.

Why not look into a 21:9 ultrawide monitor instead? 3440x1440 resolution is quite a bit easier to run than full 4K, and looks better IMO for immersion. Plus if you still want the high refresh rate there are ultrawide monitors that support up to 144hz with 200hz monitors coming out soon (expensive AF though).

The main argument against ultrawide gaming being that a lot of games don't support it well is overblown. I've only ever run into 3 games that required more than a simple click in Flawless Widescreen to work well with a 21:9 resolution. Though I will concede that for older games (last gen or previous), good 21:9 support is not as common.
