So I've built some older FX pcs and z97 boards, but have yet to build anything past that. One of my friends has bought all the parts listed and we're going to build it today. Now, I know how all the hardware stuff works, but with all this RGB stuff I'm not sure.

Now my first question would be which slots would the ram go in, the closest slot of each side of the cpu? Also how does all the RGB work? I assume I'll need some sort of drivers, but I mean the board, ram, and case has lighting. Is that something that you'll have to download software for each specific part?

An LGA1151 motherboard only has four memory slots. They are located between the cpu and front edge of the motherboard. Organized as two banks of dual channel slots, the connectors for each channel have the same color. Memory slots are typically numbered zero from closest to the cpu to three, closest to the front edge of the motherboard. Slots 0 and 2 form one bank, slots 1 and 3 the second bank. In most motherboards when inserting a two module memory kit either bank can be populated. Conventionally, the first bank (slots 0 and 1) are populated first.

The case includes a smart device to which the RGB strip connects. This device uses a USB connection on the motherboard to allow software control of the strips. The control software must be downloaded, see the case user manual for details.
