I'm usually around 20 seconds. Most of that is from POST.

I think at one point I got Windows to report a POST time of ~12 seconds on my desktop. I need to check to make sure that's still a thing.

ive been through every boot setting in my bios that makes sense. All sata drives are disabled, usb initialization is completely off, network stack is off, fast boot is on, no post logo, post screen is 1 second, not post delay,  the only thing I haven't done is disable the memory testing (which I'm going to try next)  and from power to log in screen is still 35 seconds.  another 4 seconds from password enter key to desktop.  I dont think i can get it any faster.

today I was wondering when it will be possible to have an instant boot time on a pc.
But I confess I didn't know that even with the fastest nvme was already possible to boot in less than 10 seconds...

you don't even need the fastest nvme drives to go sub-10 seconds. my 512gb WD black isn't anyway near as fast as the top end nvme drives but still smokes pretty much everything else.

i think people are dreaming about 10second boot times.  prove it.

I don't need to prove it, I know how fast my system boots and frankly I couldn't give a shit if you believe me or not, short of filming it and putting it on youtube I have no way to prove it other than my word, and frankly I'm not going to do that anyway.

If you want internet points for arguing about what people are telling you then sorry, nil points from me to you.

I have a relatively clean install of windows, run minimal apps on startup and disabled the windows password login when I timed it, If you don't want to believe me then I wont lose any sleep over it.

3 paragraphs for that defense of something you don't care about....ok then.

  Reveal hidden contents

Vids or it didn't happen

you ask a question, then get pissy when people answer that question because you don't like the answer, and 3 short paragraphs is hardly a lot of time out of my day even at my relatively slow typing speed.

OS itself boots fairly quickly (within 10 seconds), but since I have a workstation motherboard it does... whatever a workstation motherboard does on startup. Takes about 13 seconds to POST every. single. time. e_e

Desktop: HP Z220 Workstation, 12 GB RAM, 2x500 GB HDD RAID0, + GTX 1060 3GB

Laptop: ThinkPad T430, 8 GB RAM, 1x120 GB SSD
