Currently i have an i5 6600k paired with 16gb of ddr4 and a gtx 1080. I play lots of games like Witcher 3, PUBG, DayZ, R6 Siege, and more. And i find that i am *just* shy of being able to play at ultra settings while maintaining 60 fps at 4k in most games. Should my next upgrade to fix this problem be replacing my 1080 with a 1080ti or replacing my 6600k with a 8700k? Which of those two upgrades would yield a better 4k gaming experience.

can you see either bottle necking the other?

going the 1080ti should be better but if the CPU is maxing out than the extra GPU power will not be utilised

4K needs GPU power, everything it can get. But give it a month for the next gen to come out and see if a 1080Ti drops significantly or if a 2080 is worth the cost.

i thought it was more likely to be named the 1180? has the name been announced yet?

One of the AIBs filed with the name 2080 and 2070, which could be just another diversion, but I'm sticking to 20 series for now.

What is your budget/country for your new PC?
