For those games, you'll want to find the money to upgrade both. An i5 7400/7500 plus a GTX 1060 should suit your needs very well for medium/high settings in those games. An i5 7600K would certainly work but it would be a waste if you install it in a B250 board, since you cannot overclock on such a board.

hello i was just looking to see if anyone could help me with how i should upgrade my system i'm not a novice builder but i wouldn't say i'm a pro either my system specs are

cpu: Pentium g4600

graphics card: gtx 1050

mobo: ism pro b250m vd

ram: crucial ddr4 8gb 

storage : Samsung 960 pro nvme m.2 ssd

power supply: corsair cx 430

 

I'm just looking to increase the performance of my system overall when i'm playing games like ark,ds3 and handling more newer tirple A titles like monster hunter world so i'm just not sure if i should upgrade my cpu to intel core i5 7600k or get a more power gpu

Up the CPU to something like a 6500 or 7500 is enough. Upgrading the GPU isnt that critical since you can always dip the graphics settings to compensate for that, but a weak CPU wont benefit from most reductions in settings, in other words wont improve even if you try.
