Condolences on the PSU...

Anyway, I'd go for ryzen because more energy efficient as for the Boards, w/o OC, ASUS Prime B350-Plus is an option. With OC you have to spend more on the Board...

Defenitely get Ryzen! Cheaper, more (in multithreaded work much more) power and more efficeny. Allso if you dont want to oc the ryzens inculde a perfectly decent heatsink in the box for free.

Allso if you can spend the extra bucks.... GET A NEW PSU :D

In gaming, with a 970 you won't notice a difference.

Even if you overclock..

steam, discord and spotify same diff between the two processors

If you multiple applications, open still no difference really....

Ryzen has a good upgrade path by the looks of it.

You said you game..and browse spotify/discord.... while you game won't make a noticeable difference while you play, at least it hasn't for me, i have a i5 8400 with gtx 1060 6gb

So......Maybe price wise ryzen.. but i got a great b360 mobo for my i5-8400 cheaper then most b350 mobo, but i live in the uk so.

I may be wrong.

I'd go with Ryzen myself because of the threads per dollar, but you really need to baby it with good ram (dual channel) and a good motherboard.

If you absolutely need to go cheap on your other components then you're better off with the 8400, which will perform a little better in some games plus not needing overclocked ram to do so.

thanks how about the RAM does 8gb is enough for the ryzen 5 2600? im really on tight budget

yeah this is what i thinking because of the other component like 65-70$ Motherboard + RAM i dont know anything about RAM

I'd start with 1x8GiB, if possible DDR4-3000 or 3200/3400 but plan on getting the other one ASAP.

There are some things you can save on.

For example save the HDD if you don't have one but get the SSD. Because installing the HDD is a thing of like 5minutes while adding an SSD is a thing of a couple of hours and a pain in the neck.

Another place to save a buck or two is the Heatsink. You don't necessarily need one right now, you could live with the Boxed one for the moment and upgrade it to a better one later. As most Cases have a cutout for the CPU Area, you don't need to remove the Board, though it makes it far easier than not to.

You don't have to get everything you want for the system right now, you can still get it later and make it better in the end than if you have to force everything into a tight budget.

That's by the way how I normally upgrade my PC. I have a plan of where to go and upgrade it incrementally...

Well, I'd rather get 1x8GiB now and grab another one later.

While you loose performance right now, you gain it when you install the other one. 4 Sockets reduce the maximum frequency one can archieve....

And you don't need no kits, as the Problem with those is that you have to send in the whole kit while if you get the Sticks seperately you can only send in those...

Anyway while there are cheap Boards, they are all pretty crappy with 2 Memory Slots and nothing really on it, cheap VRM and so on. I don't feel comfortable to recommend those and rather save on other parts than the Motherboard.

It's kind of a special rule for Ryzen because of the way the architecture works.  It likes faster ram and more bandwidth.  So something in the 2933-3200mhz range should keep it fed.  You can do single channel but it will hold it back somewhat.

If you like to upgrade over time then Ryzen is a little better for that.  Spend a little more on a good motherboard because it will probably carry you to the next cpu upgrade.  But if you prefer to build it and forget it, then go the intel route.

yehhhh but with ryzen dual channel is important!

Idd suggest 2x4GB and then  4x4GB, price is close to no difference and you wont need 32GB for a long time

Heatsink: YES! If youre not OCing the AMD boxed one is super fine

Yeah, but that's true for all architectures and processors. While Dual Channel is pretty important, if you don't have the money for two sticks right now, I'd rather go for one right now and grap the other one ASAP, when I have saved enough money...

There is no good solution in this case and it basically comes down to choose wich way to die.

But I think the 1x8 GiB for now and another one later is the better choice in the long run, though it is not now...

And that is the question: do you want the best performance now or the best solution later?

Ah I forgot about the differences in our countries.

Well that'll come down to the OP's situation then.

Still you can get away with a decent b360 board and don't necessarily need 4 dimms, and I'm not overclocking.  On the AMD camp I would absolutely take a 4 dimm board and something with decent vrm cooling.

I'm totally calm.  And I didn't say anything about power draw.  I'm talking about the vrms on the motherboard.  But that's fine, if op has any more questions ask me.
