I recently bought a Ryzen 2700x and i am looking for a motherboard to use with it. I was looking at the MSI x370 Gaming Pro Carbon and it says in the specs " Supports AMD® Ryzen™ 1st and 2nd Generation " I was wondering if that means that it is compatible straight out of the box and if i don't have to do a bios flash or get a previous gen processor to install the latest bios.

Would be great if you guys could help me out. :)

You will most likely need to perform a bios update PRIOR to using the 2700X on that board.

By this point, most boards should ship with a BIOS update.

OP: You can request a bootkit from AMD, where they will send you a CPU for free to flash the BIOS with. You just have to send it back to AMD.

yes, or you could end up with that board that has been sitting here and there for a while...better be safe than sorry...

the board he was looking at was an expensive X370 board anyways...and you can get a decent price on X470 and the boards are nice(r) so why risk it. :)
