Hey Linus forum. So recently i build up my new PC and im "happy" of it. But, i took the i7 8700 with kraken x52. The problem is, that im getting 50 degrees at idle and over 80 at stress test and games. My cpu is set on 1.104V on vcore and pump on 100%. What is wrong? i know that Coffee lakes can be hot but hey, people that do not delid it have less temperatures. What's wrong? Tho, i put a Thermal grizzly compound on kraken.. Still the same issue. If you'd need it. My Motherboard is ASUS Z370-A Prime. Peace

try to boost them a bit!

Fan speed is much more important than pump speed in those coolers ;)

Allso you have to considder your airflow in the case, if the fans cant breathe enugh fresh air they wont help much.

And the last thing: Maybe you just got a bad mount. When nothing helps take of the cooler clean everything reaplay ThermalG and try again ;)

Allso: Nice TIM choice! Which are you using, Kryo or Hydronaut?

FOLDING MONTH 2021! GOGOGO and save on some heating costs 🙂

Already boosted them to 1500 and im feeling, like im on Tomorrowland festival. Its so loud now, and there's no change at all. My airflow in the case is good. I was having a blast with fan in my case for good 1 or 2 hours. With reaplaying. Already did that 3 times :/ Im just pissed that nothing helps with that thing... I cant play anything. Literally, cause temps bumps up to 80/90 Degrees and PC turns into good musical show.

I got Kryo and hydro. Both applied, both did nothing...

The case is NZXT s340 non elite one

Your case has low airflow to start with then, probably the main issue, check what happens if you remove all the panels that you can.

I did that too, when i was reapplying the thermal compound. Took all of the panels ;)

If it's still running hot after that probably just spend the $45 to have silicon Lottery delid it and reseal it.

Or return everything and just get an R5 2600 lol

With and without. Nothing changed pretty much... Im just sad that nothing helps. I dont want to delid it, cause you can lose warranty by doing that..

What's your room temperature? If that's high that's probably the main issue.

Well return it and get Ryzen if you want better temps, or just get it delidded.

My room temp is like 35C and my 1950X idles at 60C even with a 280mm AIO.

If you still can return it do that and get a Ryzen :D

OK so you did try to reaply TIM and have removed then pannels?

Maybe you got a bad cooler unit.

Did boosting the fans help?

I think, that i got bad Kraken unit.. Im running all cores on 4.3GHZ right now at 40 On idle and 80 on stress and gaming. Something is definitely not right..Not a lot man.. not a lot..

If your pump is working and you took the sticker off the cold plate there shouldn't be any issues.

your i5 also consumed less power under load, and likely had better TIM.

Yes, You're right.. IM thinking about RMA both parts or send i7 to person that have some knowledge about deliding, cause im to dumb to do this... Or to scared...
TBH i see only slight difference in gaming tho. 4690k is still holding very well ;)

That's more just a GPU bottleneck most likely.

If you still have your i5 lying around put the new kraken cooler on that.

Silicon Lottery guarantees a working CPU after a delid if it's available where you're at.
