SLI Bridge and PhysX question

13eowulf

So when Volta GPU are out in the market I'm going to build my first water cooled SLI rig.

I found out today the reason most videos or tutorials don't use the NVIDIA SLI bridge because it doesn't fit.

However, I was wondering if the SLI bridge can be used upside down and have the pokey edges point the other way, away from the tubes?

My current rig built 5 years ago:
Intel Core i7 4790 3.60GHz Haswell
Gigabyte B85M-D3H Motherboard
16GB Dual-Channel DDR3 798Mhz RAM
256GB Samsung SSD 850 Pro
2TB Western Digital WD20EZRX-00D8PB0
Gigabyte NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970

My shopping list so far, not that it matters:

Intel Core i7-6700K

Gigabyte GA-Z270X DESIGNARE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum 32GB (4×8GB) DDR4-2666

Crucial MX300 1.1TB SSD (×2; one for main, another for backup)

GTX 1070 8GB Founders Edition (2-Way SLI)

Thermaltake Core P3 Snow Edition ATX Mid Tower

PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Asus PCE-AC68 PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter

Geforce HB SLI Bridge

Can I use my GTX 970 as a PhysX card?

Case...............Thermaltake Core P3 ATX Snow Edition

Motherboard.. .....ASUS Prime Z370-A LGA1151 ATX

CPU................Intel Core i7-8700K 6 Cores 4.7GHz Turbo Unlocked
RAM................Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 2666MHz

GPU................NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition(2-way SLI)

GPU Accessory......GeForce GTX SLI HB bridge (4 slot)

STORAGE (main).....Samsung 960 Pro 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD

STORAGE (backup)...Samsung 960 Pro 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD

PSU................PC Power & Cooling Silencer Series 750W 80+ Gold Semi-Modular Active PFC

You could use it as a PhysX card but it really won't do much at all besides consume power. Also you need a Z370 motherboard for that 8700K.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

Posting my shopping list did matter in the end! Hah!
Thank you for the insight. Now I gotta find a silver colored or white Z370

Just found out that the closest to all silver/white motherboard is the NZXT N7 Z370, which isn't worth the 250$

Yeah, I was originally going to link that one but I remembered the reviews not being the best.
