This is why i dont like iphones

So I have this old Iphone 5s today I decided to format it within the phone setting. I did so and now when I turn it on it asks me to connect to the internet and activate my phone. When I try to do that, I get an error saying " your iphone could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iphone to Itunes to activate it."
However I get the same error on Itunes. I have not jailbroken my iphone. any tips?

Maybe you need a cellular connection instead of wifi? Or maybe the IMEI/UDID is blacklisted? Try resetting the phone again and update to latest iOS available.

What?? You need to activate an Iphone. Who came up with that system? What if these servers go down at some point, to make place for new servers for newer phones? Then you can't activate the phone anymore.

yeah i tried cellular connection no help. why would they blacklist my IMEI idk my phone was working just fine before i formatted it. I already tried installing the IOS multiple times even different versions, still no luck. im starting to lose hope

It's still supported, the iPhone 5S (and OG iPad Air and anything with a 64 bit A7 chip or newer) is getting iOS 12 come fall. Activation can sometimes just be buggy, I've had various iPhones throw fits every now and then but usually they activate after a bit.
