720p on 720p screen vs 1080p.

jass

So i just ordered a 1080p TV, however i have been using a 720p screen for gaming, as my GPU is not capable of handling modern AAA titles on 1080p. So, I was thinking about having a little fun and connect my PC to my (not yet received) 1080p 43inches TV.

Will it look better than the 720p on 720p, Or it will get blurry?? is there a solution.

and also i haven't bought the tv for gaming, was just curious.

Well, it depends on the view distance and the game in general.

I remember playing Mario Kart 8 on a 1080p TV from regular distances and it looked fine as far as I was concerned.

By the way that game runs at 720p natively.

I'll be playing modern titles like Witcher 3, AC Origins, FC5, GTA 5 etc etc etc...

Eh, none of the games there require real sharp detail, and hell, GTA V already looks soft and strange whenever any form of anti-aliasing is applied, so it's not going to be that bad.

As 1080p is not an integer multiple of 720p it will look worse due to pixels having to be interpolated. But this change will be small and may not even be noticeable.
