5GHz all cores on 8086K?

So I’m still planning my build until intel

ships out those contest processors. Do you guys think my NH-D15 can keep that processor cool at that speed on all cores without the fans being obnoxious?

Probably but it'll be loud. I'd get a good 280mm AIO like an H115i Pro or EVGA 280 CLC

Seems alot of people are waiting who supposedly won em. I haven't heard anyone who's received one yet though.

I'm sorry, you said the Noctua would be loud? That thing is quieter than most 240/280mm AIOs. You've got pump noise and fan noise to deal with on an AIO cooler, vs one of the quietest 140mm fans on the market for the air cooler, plus you can run just a single 140mm fan if you wanted on the D15.

I'm just not seeing how there will be any significant difference in noise, even if the 115 Pro is quieter than the older H100i.

It's no slouch in cooling potential either, for that matter:

So basically there's very little point in going out and spending $120+ on an AIO when OP already has a perfectly good air cooler that'll come close to the same performance.

One point would be to get rid of that big Un-sightly thing for something cleaner and sleeker looking.

Maybe, but OP already owns it and presumably is ok with the aesthetic. Whether or not they want an aio simply for looks is up to them, but they'll have to keep in mind they may in fact be noisier. For some people, $100 is a lot to spend on something that doesn't have any significant performance gain. That comes down to personal preference, not the performance and noise OP was asking about.

I have a aio and a hot cpu I simply set it to silent mode noise and Temps aren't a issue.
