Hi everyone I'm starting on my first budget build ever! 

I've recycled my old E5400 processor on a Cm5571 motherboard

I've decided to slot a gtx970 strix gpu in it,

8gigs (mixmatch) DDR3 1333ghz

Fractal Desgin R5 case 

 

Where should I go from here? 

What whats the best processor for gaming that will fit into the slot?

Q9650 is good but think about buying better platform, this one sucks a dick as for today

You should be able to fit a Core 2 Quad Q6600 in that board.

I was able to get a deal on the case (8/10) with three 120 case fans, and the 970 for 120USD, and a Evga 550 psu for 35usd https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Warranty-Power-Supply-100-N1-0550-L1/dp/B01LYGJL0E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1532661190&sr=8-2&keywords=evga 500w so if i can throw maybe 100usd  more at it and play games at all, is pretty much all i want out of it, nothing crazy for 250 total

oh god no, that thing isn't any better than the logisys garbage. go get a corsair CX450, they're cheaper after rebates anyway.
