Poor man gaming/working horse.

After many years working on my laptop from 2012, (Asus n56vz, with i7 3610qm, GT650m). It really show it's age when I tried to get my daily job done with the Adobe softwares. Not to mention I had to give up playing AAA titles for years.

 

To be honest, it is really not to best time to build a new computer consider the price of ram. Moreover coffee lake refresh and gtx 11xx is coming soon(I assume?), So it come to the same old question of "should I wait for new gen hw, or just build one now".

 

Unlike many members on this forum, I only have a little to spend on a computer. So I come with the idea to build one that is good(cheap) enough for now, and can easily upgrade next year when I got my bonus (given out around April) next year.

 

So my approach will be : get cheap on the parts that are expected to be replaced next year, and get good on the parts that stay. After I sucure a few deals on the second handed web site, here are what I have: (price in USD, equivalent to my local currency)

 

Parts that I buy new:

 

Asus prime x470 pro ($150)

Gskill ripjaws V 3000 c14 16gb kit ($165)

EVGA supernova 650w G3 ($60)

Win 10 OEM license ($25)

 

Parts I get second handed:

 

AMD R5 1600 ($120)

Sapphire R9 390 Nitro ($100)

Toshiba GX3 256gb nvme SSD ($50)

 

Parts I already own:

 

An old rusty silverstone case that I put in my garage for years

Keyboard n mouse

A NAS with 6TB of storage.

A 1TB 2.5' HDD from my notebook

A monitor

 

All the parts combined , cost me about $670.

 

 

 

Future upgrade plan: (expect to be around Q2 next year)

 

Nortura NH U14s (or the new D12)

Zen 2

Whatever gpu  is available that time

Upgrade to 32gb ram.

 

 

Please let me know if there is any worthy upgrade to be done on my rig.
