Currently my build is:

I5-4690K

16GB DDR3 RAM

1060 6GB Graphics card

All of this is on a micro atx motherboard which cannot handle a better cpu or RAM, as such I'm planning an upgrade and downsize to a Mini-ITX motherboard with the same GPU but everything else upgraded. Currently I have this build.

Are there any improvements anyone can suggest and can anyone confirm whether the case can support the CPU cooler I've got?

why can't the mobo support something like a 4770 or 4790? VRM reasons? i thought the TDPs where pretty simmilar?

anyway, that seems like a pretty nicely balanced build. irf you upgrade to the mITX system you would have lots of headroom for better GPU's aswell!

Well the motehrboard could support a better CPU but I would still be held back by RAM limtations. Upgrading now would allow me to choose from more CPUs when next upgrading.

This is a little louder than current fan choice but both will fit and move ~20% more air in CFM than the 80MM choice you currently have. cost difference is minimal.

H80I should work with that case.

This will both fit and outcool the 80i while adding more overall airflow to your build to keep all components just a little cooler.

Can replace fan with a quiter one if desired. Will link an option for it in a subsequent edit or post.

That's awesome, thanks!

What are you using this PC for? If it's just gaming you could save some money with the i5-8600K and get the same (more or less) performance. If you'll be streaming your games or editing video, etc. you might want to consider Ryzen 7

What fan would you replace it with? The Cryorig stock fan is pretty quiet as is, the only thing you would want to replace it with is something like an NF-A12x25 which is the same cost as the entire damn cooler.

Also, would an NH-D9L perform better here? I know OptimumTech uses one to cool an overclocked 8700K

Gaming with basic 3d modelling on the side.

Based on UK possibly: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/6DrG3C/lepa-case-fan-lpbol12pbl

If USA I'd suggest one of the Xigma's pushing 90ish CFM @ around 18Dba

Ok then the 8700K is a great all rounder. Do you really like the Corsair RGB or would you be willing to save some money with these https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qBfmP6/geil-super-luce-rgb-sync-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-3000-memory-gls416gb3000c16adc GeIL sticks that I run in my rig?

I know it;' stupid but I do want to keep the corsair rgb things, both to look pretty and to interface well with my other peripherals

In that case I'd get a single SP120 - the HD120 doesn't perform that great IIRC
