GPU throttling with Athlon II X4 750K?

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

The chip can handle an R9 280X, GTX 770. Hell, it could even do a 780 with a very slight bottleneck.

I was looking to use the AMD Athlon II X4 750K in my next build, along with a fairly high end GPU - I was thinking the Nvidia GTX760. However, I wasn't sure if using these together would cause any GPU throttling.

Will there be a throttling issue? If so, are there any CPUs or GPUs I could use where this wouldn't be an issue?

Thanks =)

I don't think there would be? & Depends on the budget for your cpu. squeeze your budget up for a cheap 770 or r9 280x

No throttling or bottlenecking issue if that's what you're asking.

compared to a 4670k you would lose maybe 5-10% fps, but i wouldn't go any higher than a GTX760 with a 750k

Where I'm looking, a 680 is over twice the price of the 760 =3

And I suppose I could stretch to a 770. I'd have to work for a little longer before I build, but that should be worth the extra performance.

Also, I think my maximum budget for a CPU is about £100, but then I would almost definitely have to get a cheaper graphics card.

Keep the cpu grab the 770 gpu. Then next year upgrade the cpu and motherboard. Then the next year SLI the gpu.
