Title says it all - which is better? I'm looking to replace the green-label CX750M in my 7400 rig and both are pretty cheap right now

Noise and it's hot down there in the summer so it sometimes runs close to 30 i.e. overtemp

I don't think the CX750M suffers from the same problem that the lower-end old ones did.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Yeah, and as I was saying, don't think the 750/850 suffer from the same problems. They're largely unchanged for the new gen.

No.  It is true.  Green or gray label CX750 doesn't matter.  It's its own platform.

 

As for noise:  How do you know either G+ or GQ are going to be quieter?  According to Cybenetics testing, they're not.

 

If you want a quiet PSU, why not get a PSU that's designed to be quiet instead of one that's designed to be cheap?

The old CX750 did suffer from low OTP,  at least it was DC-DC though.

Then you don't need a 750W PSU.

 

Get something like an RM550x if you want something quiet.

Yeah I know I was looking at the 650W EVGAs cause they're on sale ($50 for the G1+ 650 or GQ 650)

Yeah but it's not a huge concern as I won't be around this rig too much and I'd rather have to wear headphones on the relatively rare occasions I have to be around it than spend $50 more on a PSU. Recommendations for something quiet at a reasonable price? I know about the RMx but it's a bit on the pricey side, so anything else?
