Dell bought Alienware in 2006 and have recently began selling the Alienware X51 Ubuntu desktop.

I hope this isn't just a standard version of Ubuntu though because seeing that Dell knows exactly what hardware components the OS will be running on, they have huge potential to make significant software optimizations for a real speedy pc.

The tiny form factor pc starts at $599 with:

i3-3220 3.3Ghz dual core

6GB DDR3 RAM

GTX 645 1gig

1tb HDD

For the top model at $1050 you can get:

i7-3770

8GB DDR3

GTX 660 1.5GB

so tired of Nvidia extending the GTX logo to such low end products.

there used to be

GT-X10 to X40

GTS-X50

GTX-X60 to X90

now it's GTX 645....Nvidia stop screwing with people.

Yeah very true. and it sounds like a piece of shit really. anything lower than a GTX x50 running AAA titles would be terrible imo.

Oh look, another overpriced piece of garbage!

why would I buy a $300 PC for $600?

thats harsh.

even with microcenter pricing it wouldn't be $300

I'd say closer to $450
