The last thing on the list is a 32GB optane module for the 4TB HDD

I just started saving up and I should have all the money in about 10 weeks time. By then, I really hope the new Nvidia GPU's have launched. The 1080Ti is only on the list as a price reference.

There is no budget as I don't have any spare parts on hand, so this is from scratch.

I don't want to pay for stuff that I won't need, so that's why I have an mATX board and case. I won't be doing any overclocking except the default turbo boosting.

I don't care about RGB and that, as the case is gonna be tucked way under the table.

All I want is a functional gaming PC that's gonna last for years and years.

Any suggestions or does this look all good to you?

Thanks in advance

I think you'll need to remove the 3.5 cage to fit that GPU. says 258MM and GPU is 260MM.

Motherboard will keep you from utilizing most of the bonus an unlocked CPU nets you. Switching to a z370 is pretty much a must if you desire to overclock.

For Z370 MATX the Asrock Pro4 at the low end has the sturdiest VRM design with an interleaved(not sure if that's the word) 4 phase for the CPU, and a 3 phase for the VSOC.

The reason Partpicker says the GPU won't fit is because the case is modular. I'll be using the HDD cage in the bottom of the case

I stated in OP that I'm not interested in overclocking.

Why not grab an  8600  non k instead?

It's because the "k" version has got a 0.5 GHz higher base clock, I reckon that is better than lower stock speeds?

But since you got me thinking, they both have the same turbo speed, but I don't know how that works, like, does the CPU automatically boost to 4.3GHz when loaded hard enough regardless of it being "k" or not? If that is the case, sure I'll just grab the non-k version instead.

Wow, that's a whole $1000 US dollars less. What is this world even...? Would I benefit from purchasing the parts on amazon.com, or do you think I'd just get a smack in the head with tax import duties?

Import duties are a little bit outside my knowledge base currently as I've yet to have to deal with them, and right now my first option to discover that is to practice the sacred net art of Google-Fu.

clock speeds aren't any faster than the locked 8600 after turbo boost, you're better off getting a cheap air cooler and i7 8700 instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

WHy a foudners edition exactly? Non-FE cards tend to be available at lower pricepoints with equivalent or greater performance than the founder's editions.

I said in OP that the GPU was just there as a price reference. I want to buy the new 1100 series once they come out in a few months.

So it's basically the same price for way more hassle. That's how it is I suppose.

Thanks for researching :)

The i7-8700 is quite a bit more expensive, but if I were to get a 212 EVO instead, I would still save money.

I just wanted an AIO for the silent operation. At the time, I didn't take into account the fan of the GPU which is going to be noisy as well.

I suppose I might as well get an EVO then. I'm going to keep the 8600 as that's already plenty of horsepower for my needs.

With those 2 changes I'm already down NZD $100, which is great.

Do you reckon the power supply is alright as is or can I go even smaller?

It might actually be worth it for the monitor, and GPU.

1199.99 vs 2319. if the duties etc. come to less than $1120 NZD then it save you money.

1199.99 * .15 =  ~$180 so as long as freight and shipping costs come to less than $940 NZD then it's a win.

The motherboard only has 1x m.2 and I want to use optane for my HDD, and a regular SSD is the same speed as an 860 EVO anyway.

The monitor is basically identical to the Dell one, I didn't do my research properly. Huge savings here.

Since I didn't need an AIO anymore I could change the case which is also quite a few dollars in savings.

All in all, you guys helped me save NZD $1000 or USD $680 which is massive.

Thank you.

Is there anything else that you think should be different?

For the SSD being 2.5 vs M.2 here are the 2.5" Comparison between current and an 860 Evo as well as an 860 Evo and an NVMe M.2 Solution that is available in Australia at close to the same pricepoint as well as a top tier M.2 NVMe.

http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-860-Evo-250GB-vs-Kingston-A400-240GB/3949vs3953 $88.55 vs $113.50

$141.96

next capacity tier for the A400 is $167.00

Hmm...., I was sure I read somewhere that since the 860 evo use the SATA protocol the performance would be the same as a normal SSD.

However, the links you posted, show me that for a little increase in cost, I can double my performance, and for just a little bit more I can increase it a lot more by going NVME.

Therefore I swapped out the SSD with the ADATA - XPG SX6000 256GB as I reckon it's actually worthwhile.

I had to find another motherboard with 2x m.2 connectors though, I chose the Gigabyte - H370N WIFI

Thanks a lot guys, now only time will tell if the new Nvidia GPU's will be at around $1500
