I just sold my Alienware Laptop (which was my first gaming computer) so I could buld my first computer. I want to get it going ASAP but I dont know if it is worth buying a 10 series NVIDA card now or if I sould jus wait for the 1180/2080. I keep hearing that they are coming out soon but we still do't have a release date. I also dont know if the 8086K is woth purchasing since its pretty much a binned 8700K. Any help would be great.

If you keep waiting for the next biggest thing, you'll be waiting forever. Build now if you are sure you want a new rig now. 1080 or 1080TI are still worth buying now that prices are no longer grossly inflated.

The 8086K exists as a kind of commemorative product. It is essentially a binned 8700K and certainly not worth the extra price unless you care about that factor. In terms of practical differences in performance, you may be able to OC the 8086K by 100-200Mhz above the average 8700K most of the time. Is that worth the extra $70-80...?

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

Unless you want some mad overclocks, just get the regular 8700K.

I think I agree about the 8086K. Do you think the 17070Ti is woth it at almost $100 less than the 1080? I seems like if it's overclocked, its almost as fast.

What's your budget, what do you need the PC for, and what's your monitor resolution/refresh rate?

Do you need a keyboard/mouse ect?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

It can get nearly as fast as a 1080 until you OC the 1080 :)

If you don't think you can put up the money for a 1080 or greater, then the 1070TI is a solid choice.

Then save cash with the 1070ti

the 8086K isn't worth it unless you're an extreme overclocker and want every last mhz.

Just save the money with the 8700K and get that chip delidded for better temps.

Although I think B450 boards are about to come out, and the R5 2600 would still be fine for gaming while being cheaper
