saw this add for $600 is it worth it if yes what should i look for ..

Little used mid-range DSLR with only 7072 actuations. Bought as a replacement for a D5200 that I thought I had lost, which I found 2 years later, and then sold. My interest in photography has waned, thus the sale. THE PRICE IS FIRM UNLESS YOU CAN JUSTIFY WHY IT IS NOT APPROPRIATE. Please do not ask to buy individual components.
Included are:
Nikon D5200 body with only 7072 actuations (it's tested to 100,000)
Sigma 18-200 mm optically stabilized lens
Nikon DX VR 18-55 lens with UV filter
Nikon DX 50 mm lens with UV filter
Nikon DX 35 mm lens with UV filter
Nikon MH-24 wall charger with 2 batteries
Nikon EH-68P outlet to camera charger
Nikon HB-47 hood
Nikon HB-46 hood
Nikon ML-L3 remote control
Lowe pro camera bag
Nikon soft sacks (2) for 50 and 35 mm lenses

The 18-200mm is a very shitty lens, not worth more than $100. The other 3 are fine, although they are not that expensive and I'm not entirely sure you'd need all of them. The d5200is my biggest problem with this. Its just not worth buying these days.

What is your budget? Can you afford something like a d7200? If not what about a Canon 800d?

What kind of photography you want to do?

Landscapes, nature, every day stuff etc?

Would you prefer comfortable size/weight or are those entirely meaningless?

I mean if carrying camera with you starts feeling troublesome/work instead of fun also your interest in photography might end up fading.

It will certainly get the job done. And if I were you, I'd try to unload the 18-200 at least. I used to have one for a while, horrible lens. The 50mm will do well for portraits and the 35mm is a good standard lens, although I guess the best combination would be a 50mm and a 23mm prime for portraiture.

The d5200 is a bit old in the tooth, and alone probably not worth a lot, so there's that to consider. Basically you are paying for that 35 and 50mm.

So, if you were to find something like a d7200 used or d7100 even that might be a better option.

EDIT: You could also look at used d600 which would be much better for your function given its full frame. There's loads of older AF lenses for nikon that are pretty cheap you can use with these bodies, over the d5x00 and d3x00 since they have an in body AF motor while the latter don't.

Careful, if you are suggesting a Full Frame body, those older lenses can pose an issue (being DX crop factor rather than FX)

If you are doing portraits, and using proper lighting, the d5200 is perfectly fine.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Thats why I was suggesting they look at different lenses entirely, specifically, the 35mm f/2d and the 85mm d series.

Also, I'm pretty sure they'd still work, just have a 1.5 crop factor on the sensor applied automatically. As far as I'm aware, only some EF-S lenses are ac actua; danger to the camera due to the size of the mirror and the lens design which makes the rear element protrude inwards for wider focals.
